Description

YHFloorSeal PW is a two-component aliphatic polyurethane coating formulated to a transparent matte finish. After full curing, it delivers superior mechanical performance with outstanding abrasion and scratch resistance. It also minimizes dirt accumulation, greatly simplifying routine cleaning and maintenance. Formulated as an aqueous dispersion, the product is nearly odorless, perfectly suited for enclosed indoor areas and offering excellent workability for flooring contractors.

Application Instructions

l Substrate preparation:

(1) For application onto newly resin-coated surfaces, the underlying resin coating must be fully cured and dry, with topcoat application carried out within 24 hours. If exceeding the 24-hour window, the resin substrate shall be thoroughly cleaned and completely free from oil, grease and all surface contaminants. Mechanically abrade the surface with a single-head floor sander fitted with 200–300 grit abrasive paper or a fine-grade abrasive pad. Upon completion of mechanical preparation, remove all dust residues by thorough vacuuming to guarantee optimal coating adhesion.

(2) For substrates of cementitious materials, apply YHFloorSeal PW only after the cementitious substrate has fully cured (minimum 24 hours, subject to layer thickness and ambient temperature). Perform light sanding beforehand, then fully vacuum away all sanding dust. In all cases, a suitable primer must be applied prior to top coating to regulate the substrate’s absorbency.

(3) For new or existing concrete surfaces, ensure the substrate is thoroughly cleaned and free from oil, grease and other contaminants prior to application. Complete thorough surface sanding, followed by industrial vacuum cleaning to eliminate all dust and ensure proper finish adhesion. In every case, apply the topcoat only after priming for effective pore sealing.

l Mixing: Mix Component A with Component B using a low-speed electric mixer until fully homogeneous, mixing only the amount that can be applied within the maximum pot life. If a non-slip finish is required, add 3–5% by weight of quartz (80-100 mesh) sand during mixing.

l Coating application: Apply 1–2 coats of YHFloorSeal PW using a short-pile roller or airless spray equipment. When applying by roller, work in two perpendicular directions. If the over-coating interval between successive coats exceeds the time recommended in the above table, lightly sand the surface of the previous coat, then thoroughly remove sanding dust by vacuum before applying the next coat. Over-coating times are shorter at high temperatures and longer at low temperatures. Ensure the area is well ventilated to facilitate drying.

TRANSPORTATION AND STORAGE

The product should be stored in ventilated areas, protected from sunlight, rain, and fire. Avoid collisions during transportation. The recommended storage temperature range is 12°C to 30°C. The shelf life is a minimum of 12 months under normal transportation and storage conditions.

Scope of Application

YHFloorSeal PW is an ideal topcoat for resin flooring systems. The product is also suitable for the surface protection of concrete substrates.

FAQ
  • Q1: What is the advantage for liquid applied membrane (coating)?
It is suitable for various type of structures and substrates, it can form seamless membrane without joint (seams and joints are the most vulnerable to leakage), and is beneficial for complex structures. The liquid coatings has various functions, sucha as flexible, high strength, excellent abrasion resistance, high load bearing property, and breathable capability, etc.
  • Q2: What is the difference between one-component polyurethane and two-component polyurethane?
Firstly, the isocyanate group in one - component polyurethane reacts with moisture to form a membrane. Two - component polyurethane has two parts: one part is isocyanate, and the other part is polyol or polyamine, and these two components react with each other to form a membrane. Secondly, due to the difference in the reaction mechanism, the sensitivity to atmospheric conditions is also different. For one - component PU, high moisture and temperature can increase the reaction speed. In contrast, two - component PU has better storage stability, and its reaction speed is hardly affected by moisture.
  • Q3: Why should the polyurethane coating be used up as soon as possible after opening the container?
Because moisture in the air can enter the container and cure the remaining coating inside.
  • Q4: What are the differences between sag - resistant PU and levelling PU?
Sag-resistant PU has rheological properties. Rheology is the study of the behavior of materials during "flow" or "deformation" processes. There are several common "rheological behaviors" from the molecular level: 1) Shear thinning,This is the most common type of non - Newtonian behavior. It means that when you apply a shear force to the material (such as stirring, scraping, extruding), the viscosity of the material will decrease. ; 2) Thixotropy: Thixotropy is an "upgraded version" of shear thinning, with an additional dimension: time. Its definition is: During the continuous shearing process, the viscosity of the material will gradually decrease with time; after stopping shearing, it can gradually recover the original viscosity. This ability of "temporarily becoming thin + reversibly recovering" is exactly thixotropy. Materials with good thixotropy can "flow smoothly" during construction, but can quickly recover viscosity to avoid "collapse" and "sagging". For the sag-resistant coating, it is easy to scrape and apply during construction, and does not sag when left standing, ensuring the bonding thickness.
  • Q5: Can polyurethane coating be used for indoor construction
Yes, the non-solvent polyurethane and water-based polyurethane can be used for indoor waterproofing applications. Non-solvent polyurethane is a high-solids, ultra-low VOC coating, especially suitable for areas with poor ventilation and sensitivity to odors or volatiles.
